  1. New in the shop: Vintage ABC Party

    May 29, 2012 by ivona

Recently, I collaborated with Dawn of Not Just A Mommy on a party design for her son’s graduation party. After bouncing around a couple of ideas we both really liked an ABC Party with a vintage feel.

Dawn played with fun food items like animal crackers in Z is for Zoo, and I love how colorful her table was. Our new “gift boxes” would be a great way to pack up individual lunches if you decide to throw your vintage bash in a more informal setting.

For favors, Dawn created the Grad Cap Candy and topped it off with our favor tags. Another fun favor would be the personalized book plates or our newly added kraft favor boxes.

The “Five things you need to before…” cards were so much fun and I love some of the things the kids wrote on their lists. Also fun for was the “Autograph Poster” that makes a great keepsake after the party is over.

The party is now available in our shop.

  2. {Real party} Hot Air Balloon First Birthday

    March 2, 2012 by ivona

When Ashley first contacted me regarding Kinley’s first birthday hot air balloon party I knew it would be a blast.

She really liked our hot air balloon design with its vintage feel and wanted to celebrate all the special moments of  Kinley’s first year.

Ashley really liked the drinks I created for our Fancy Camping shoot so we paired  square bottle labels and our personalized paper straws for the same effect.

The centerpieces were double sided with image of the birthday girl on one side and birthday message on the other.

Ashley truly outdid herself on the dessert table from the classic pink ruffle cake, array of cookies and the adorable hot air balloon pops. Our photo cupcake toppers coordinated perfectly  with the pale hot air balloons on the fluffy cloud cupcakes.

I re-designed our flat favor bags with Kinley’s image for the little guests to fill with yummy goodies  as favors. Our favor tags celebrated Kinley’s first Christmas sitting attached to matching pink glasses.

Ashley used two types of signs: the classic party signs for activities and memory book and {our new to the shop} milestone photo signs designed uniquely to celebrate your little ones firsts.

Thank you Ashley for letting me be a part of Kinley’s first celebration, it was so much fun to work on it with you and the final result was adorable!

Visit the shop here for the full Hot Air Balloon collection.

  4. Giggle! Thursdays: Vintage paper dolls

    December 17, 2010 by ivona

The hectic score of our household surpassed really high this week between the packing and wrapping and the Sugarsticks work, so please forgive this Thursday feature coming a little late.

I have been going over and over the contents of kids’ carry ons, primarily those of our 3 year old daughter.

How do you pack enough toys to entertain a toddler on a 18 hour flight, and fit them all in a carry on?

We got the bunny who cannot be left behind under ANY circumstances and her favorite baby doll, diaper bag and all…

… but I knew we will need something more to keep Mika’s attention.

In one of my better mama moments it came to me: Paper dolls! They are fun and whimsical… simple to pack… do not take up a lot of room… and bound to give hours of fun pretend play to little girls.

A quick google search for printable paper doll images led me to a treasure trove of these vintage paper dolls. Aren’t they positively darling?

They will be a perfect toy since you can easily play with them on the tray, while in your seat (if you’re stuck in an airplane for 18 hours ;)

I printed them on a heavy cardstock, cut them out and packed each set separately into envelopes that can easily fit into the side pocket of my camera bag.

If I had time, and I will probably do this once we get back, I would laminate the dolls themselves and mod podge the clothes before cutting just to preserve them.

Aren’t these just precious? I cannot get enough of them… the vintage definitely makes them more special.

I have found the printables on this blog by Maggiecat and they were originally submitted by Patricia of De Chapeaux.

Please remember, as far as I know these are for personal use only. The feature on this blog does NOT mean Sugarsticks Parties owns the rights to these, nor should it be considered permission for these to be used for commercial purposes.

I hope you and your little girls will enjoy them!

  5. Giggle Thursdays: The Twinery

    November 18, 2010 by ivona

So, soooooo excited to tell you about The Twinery today!

I have recently received some great news that will allow me to feature more of their amazing products, but more on that later.

Let’s just enjoy the giggle with twine, today:)

The Twinery offers a 100% cotton, eco- friendly baker’s twine in a variety of fun and giggly colors.  Ribbons are very popular as you can easily add pizzazz to your party or product, but sometime they don’t quite work for the atmosphere you are trying to achieve.

    by Sugarsticks Parties

The simplicity of the twine and it’s vintage charm add to a party in the way a ribbon can’t.

    by Sugarsticks Parties

I have recently used The Twinery’s Caribbean twine to add just the right touch of turquoise to the grey straws as well as pink napkin rings.

Even the thinnest ribbon would have been too much for the look we wanted to create but the twine was perfect.

As a craft accessory the twine adds a wonderful pop of color to a range of projects.

And there are all those brown paper packages to be wrapped, not to

    mention banners to create :)

Please visit The Twinery and explore the possibilities, tell them Sugarsticks Parties sent you :)
